Do Good, Bless Others, Live by the Spirit

What a wonderfully FULL and FULLY wonderful day we had today!  It is mind boggling to me sometimes when I think of everything that we actually accomplish in a day.  Nevertheless, I deeply know that our "success" comes from nothing less than the hand of God guiding, helping, providing for, and strengthening us along the way.  He uses our hands, feet, minds, etc. to accomplish our daily work, but it is a TEAM effort, no doubt.

Working together as a FAMILY, the boys and I were able to have school, clean my entire home, finish and put away LOTS of laundry, care for little ones, prepare a first-class dinner, and host some special friends for dinner and playtime!

The following verses floated through my mind and I eagerly prepared for our friends to come over.  In fact, as my friend and I stood in the kitchen talking, cooking, and cleaning we marveled at how wonderful a gift it is to be part of God's FAMILY.  God grants ANYONE who believes in Jesus and receives Him to become part of His FAMILY--children of God--in John 1:12.  What a BLESSING it was to DO GOOD to our brothers and sisters in Christ--we're God's FAMILY!

"Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the FAMILYof believers."
This next  in Romans 12:12-14 is a super reminder of how to act:
12Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
14Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse."
Last night I talked about living F.L.U.I.D.S.-ly.  That is a new acronym God gave me that represents Fully Living Under the  Inspiration of the Divine Spirit of the Lord.  Sometimes I think it is hard to know what we should do or how we ought to act without comparing it to what we should not do or how we ought not to act.
The consecutive passage in Galatians 5:16-26 contrasts the acts of our flesh (sinful nature--thanks to Adam and Eve, we're born w/ it--many don't believe it/deny it but if you're in that camp, just have a child of your own and you'll buy it.) with the FRUIT of the Spirit (new nature in Jesus--when you say "yes" to Him and make Him your boss, He lives in your heart--Eph. 1:13--and helps you to become more like Him!).
Life by the Spirit 16So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. 17For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. 18But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law. 19The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

Thank you, Lord, for your GREAT help today in allowing us to accomplish our daily work in preparation to be a BLESSING to our special friends.  Thank you that we are friends AND FAMILY...God's family.  Help us, Lord, to do good, bless others, and to live by YOUR Spirit.  Amen.
