The 3-Ds of "Dire Disconnects: But You Can Only Choose One

This month we’ve considered the connection between our heads and hearts. We termed the mismatch or “short” between our perceptions and behaviors (even thoughts and speech) as a “Dire Disconnect.” The problem with this style of living is that it’s not true. It’s phony and artificial—not authentic. We discussed how Jesus is the bridge to connection and we confess sin to reconnect our head-to-heart “shorts” and repossess fellowship with the Lord. If we seek Him first for our needs, “all these things” will be added unto us. He is the source and supply of ALL the wisdom we need for this life. However, we must follow Him! I must follow Him. You must follow Him. Otherwise, we can’t link up, our life will be “shorted” out—we will have forgotten the missing link that powers us up to live in the light of truth.

Now we’ll wrap up this series on “dire disconnects” in 3-D. From the key Bible passage we’ve been studying this January, I see only three possibilities…but we can only choose ONE.

Belief: I’m innocent, a good person, or “perfect”

Problems: deceived, no truth w/in us

Belief: I’m a confessing sinner who trusts in Jesus alone for my forgiveness

Outcome: Forgiven, Totally Purified from ALL sin by the blood of Jesus

3) Denier
Belief: I haven’t sinned

Problems: Jesus is a liar, No room for God’s word

Sisters, if we’re in Christ, we are WIPS (Works in P R O G R E S S)! God is working in us. He wants us to become more and more like Jesus! As we open our hearts to His word and drink in His truth, we’ll grow to become more Christ like. As the Holy Spirit reveals new truth to us or illuminates “dire disconnects” in us, we simply bow to the Lord and humbly confess them as sin. We receive God’s forgiveness and total purification from sin through the precious blood of Jesus. Then we walk forward, DELIVERED. Baby step by baby step—in sync with the Holy Spirit--living free and traveling light.

Lord, hear my prayer for my sisters and me…

Delivered and free,

Not deniers or deceived,

By sweet Jesus, we’re redeemed,

In the light of truth walking.

Our “dire disconnects,” Lord reveal,

We’ll humbly confess them as sin—be REAL.

Reconnect us to Jesus, our Lord.

May we exalt your name and your word!

In Jesus’ name, AMEN!
