Messiah Missed

I wrote this Palm Sunday poem in 2003, but will share it with you today.
Triumphal entry in Jerusalem;
Palm branches laid on road before Him.
On colt He rode as prophesied;
So sorrowful, Messiah cried.

“Hosanna in the Highest!” heard,
But hearts not recognized the Word.
Jesus wept, Messiah missed.
Handed over , Judas-kissed .

A chosen people knew not His peace;
Saw not the Lamb of perfect fleece,
Chose not the Light present with them.
Hearts deadened and eyes now dim .

But one day every knee will bow.
At His splendor, all nations “WOW!”
Every tongue will confess, “He is Lord!”
GLORY to God! Behold, the Word!

Lord, may we not miss you again this Easter. Give us eyes to see you, ears to hear your word, and hearts that obey and follow you. In Jesus' name, AMEN.
