Guest Post, Part I on Celebrating Mothers: Joy Juice for Moms—Young and “Mature!”

Friends, my JOY-FULL friend, JOYce has much to share with us today! Since her cup runneth over, I’ll post Part I of Joyce’s message now. She has a word for both young and “mature” moms. Then, PJ. That’s code for Please Join us Monday for Part II: Training Tips for PJ—Pursuing Jesus. Your hearts will be encouraged by Joyce’s “Pass it On” insights! Now, grab a warm something and enJOY hearing from Joyce like you’re chatting face-to-face.

What a JOYful treat to guest blog for Shannon! This precious gal and I met last summer at “SHE SPEAKS” and had an instant connection! Do you know our common bond? The JOY of JESUS!!!! Though I’m old enough to be her mother….yes, I’m a grandmother…age didn’t seem to matter. We both love the Lord and want to serve Him!

For “Mature” Moms:

In Titus 2 the older women (I like to call us “mature”) are admonished to “teach what is good.”

May I ask a personal question? How are we going to know what is “good” in the sight of God, if we don’t read and study His Word?

We should consistently study the Bible. If you haven’t always done that, then keep in mind--it’s never too late to start! Begin today…NOW…asking God to reveal His truth through His Holy Word. Ask Him to tenderize your heart and remove the scales from your eyes so that you will be able to understand and APPLY those godly truths in your daily living.

Just Don’t Quit: I think that too many “grandmommies” just quit and say, “I’m too old. Let some of the younger women do “it” now. I’ve had my turn.” Oooooh…ladies!!!!! This just breaks my heart! Does God ever quit on us? NO! And our hearts’ desire should be to serve Him and spread the message of His love and JOY till we take our last breath!

(Can you tell I’m passionate about this?)

For Young Moms:

I DO REMEMBER, young moms, how difficult it was to find time to slow down long enough to read and study. Some days you wake up with a crying, sick baby and you simply must take care of the urgent needs. Even on good days, your feet hit the floor running, you never slow down until bedtime…, and by that time, you’re exhausted! Oh, how I remember those days!

From Guilt to Godly Wisdom: I don’t think the Lord wants us to float around on a guilt trip when we can’t check everything off our daily list of things “good Christians” do. However, I do believe wholeheartedly that He will enlighten us throughout our days with His wisdom---if we tune in to His voice. Godly wisdom may come from other Christian moms, grandmoms, friends, radio messages, praise music, etc. We need to surround ourselves with godly examples and influences...then “listen” with a tender heart when God speaks through them.

Quiet Time Promise: If you are finding it difficult to find “quiet time” every day for Bible study and prayer, get a Promise Card box. Simply pull one card per day and read that scripture as many times as you can throughout it. Leave the card in your bathroom, your kitchen window, beside your rocking chair…any place where you can see it easily.

And of course, you can pray ANYTIME, ANYWHERE…even when you are multi-tasking. God hears our every prayer, whether whispered in our hearts or spoken aloud.

Remember: It’s all about RELATIONSHIP with HIM! And He loves you even if you’ve had no time to comb your hair or brush your teeth!

From Whines to Willingness! So, NO EXCUSES, gals! None of this, “I’m too old.” or “I’m too young.” or “I don’t have any experience.” If you will make yourself available to God, I promise you, He will give you exactly what you need. All He wants is a willing vessel…that’s YOU and ME! My daughter has a little plaque that someone gave her years ago that reads: “Where God guides, He provides.” AMEN!!! You get my point? Keep spreading the JOY!

Meet Joyce Ashley:

Joyce, a former educator, says she’s not retired but reFIRED for the Lord. Her mission is to share a double portion of the JOY of the Lord at every opportunity! God has blessed her with an outreach called “JoyJoy Ministries” in which she shares her joyful passion for Him. Her heart’s desire is to encourage other women to radiate God’s love and joy…regardless of their circumstances.

An expansion of her ministry includes a daily radio program called “JOY JUICE” in which she shares brief devotional messages encouraging others to “rejoice always.” She has written her first book entitled JOY JUICE: Delightful Flavors of JOY in the Lord.

Joyce and her husband of 38 years, Patrick, live in a small South Georgia community called Wray. They are parents of three grown children, two daughters-in-love, and four PRECIOUS grandchildren ( who bring extra joy into their lives). Two extra little joys are expected in October!
