Guest Post, Part II on Celebrating Mothers: Training Tips for PJ—Pursuing Jesus

Welcome back, sisters! Last week my new friend from She Speaks shared this post. Today we'll get PJ (Practical with JOYce) as she encourages us how to PJ (Pursue Jesus)!

Now to the Titus 2 women reading this blog: We have a JOYful responsibility, Sistas!

That’s pretty plain, isn’t it? But how do we go about “training” the younger women? Here’s a practical way the Lord has led me to show younger women how to PJ.
Titus 2:4 says: Then they can train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.

One desire God has placed on my heart is to open my home for a time of Bible Study and prayer. When God first called me to this six years ago, He gave me EXACTLY what we should talk about each session. About two dozen young women met once a month and we called our gathering “Let’s Have a P J Party!” P J stood for Pursuing Jesus…a closer relationship with Him.

I asked the girls to wear their PJs and we all brought a snack food that began with a P or a J. Imagine the fun we had when everyone arrived in their jammies…some old, some new, all comfy! And what creative foods showed up! Of course, eating together is always a treat, as well as such a wonderful time for great conversation.

Our session topics each began with a P and J. Example: Pursing Jesus, Partners of Joy (marriage), Precious Jewels (children)….etc. We laughed a lot and shared even more; we shed tears often as we brought our requests and hearts’ desires before the Throne of Grace. It was a time of spiritual growth and accountability for us all. (I am working on putting this Bible study in printed book form, so maybe that will be available soon!)

That’s just one example of how God can use a tired ole gal, fill her with His ideas, His energy, His passion, and His JOY.

Are you willing to do what He asks YOU to do?

There’s only criteria He’s looking for: a willing instrument. Age should never be a factor when it comes to serving God. So, whether you are a teenager, a young mom, a middle-aged working woman, or a retired senior citizen, drink your JOY JUICE and get energized and ready to “serve the Lord with gladness”!

How Will YOU PJ?

Meet Joyce Ashley:

Joyce, a former educator, says she’s not retired but reFIRED for the Lord. Her mission is to share a double portion of the JOY of the Lord at every opportunity! God has blessed her with an outreach called “JoyJoy Ministries” in which she shares her joyful passion for Him. Her heart’s desire is to encourage other women to radiate God’s love and joy…regardless of their circumstances.

An expansion of her ministry includes a daily radio program called “JOY JUICE” in which she shares brief devotional messages encouraging others to “rejoice always.” She has written her first book entitled JOY JUICE: Delightful Flavors of JOY in the Lord.

Joyce and her husband of 38 years, Patrick, live in a small South Georgia community called Wray. They are parents of three grown children, two daughters-in-love, and four PRECIOUS grandchildren ( who bring extra joy into their lives). Two extra little joys are expected in October!
